Dr. Erick Mears, Dipl., ACVIM 
Dr. Erick Mears is one of only two doctors who travel around the country to treat cats for hyperthyroidism. He is the only such doctor, who is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Mears has treated more than 2,000 patients with Radioiodine I-131 and has been treating hyperthyroid cats since 1993. He received his Bachelors of Science from Stanford University in 1988. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He completed his post-DVM education at the University of Tennessee with small animal internship, internal medicine residency and Associate Professor in 1997. Dr. Mears is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. On a more personal note, Dr. Mears was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and treated with radioactive iodine in June 2000. He is happily married to his wife Deborah and enjoys his dog, Blu, and his cat, Bosco.
